Gene Marbach (Guitar), Gene Tullio (Bass), Rich Holodak (Percussion), Marty Stole (harmonica), and Neal Hill (Keyboards).
The Big Beat Blues Band is dedicated to preserving the integrity of America's greatest music form- the Blues. While mindful of traditional arrangements, the band brings a considerable amount of elegance, energy and originality to each song. The song list, which draws heavily from Chicago's post-war electric blues scene, features the works of Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Albert King, among others.
The Big Beat Blues Band, formed in 1992, has undergone personnel changes to its current lineup of musicians and is, in effect, a merger of the best of a number of Westchester based bands.
While all the members of the group sing, Gene Tullio, bassist, handles most of the vocals, interpreting the classics with energy and emotion. Helping recreate an authentic Chicago sound is Marty Stole whose harp playing evokes memories of Sonny Boy Williamson and Little Walter. Gritty and powerful guitar work (including an occasional slide guitar excursion) is suppled by Gene Marbach along with expressive vocals. Neal Hill's cultured keyboard styling calls to mind the work of Johnnie Johnson (Chuck Berry's sideman) and Otis Spann (Chicago studio ace and legendary Muddy Waters' sideman). Anchoring the "engine room" is veteran player Rich Holodak, whose diverse and rhythmic drumming skills serve as the backbone of the band.
Since The Big Beat Blues Band began performing, a loyal following has developed and continues to grow with each show. The band continues to win new fans with its music which is a stunning and refreshing change from the fare served up by typical cover bands. They are worth a listen....or two!
